    This research demonstrates the episodes of social media use in a conflict prevention movement in Ambon, Indonesia. Utilizing data collected from interviews and a secret Facebook group used for information sharing, three episodes of social media use throughout the stages of the movement .   It is argued that the concept is sharp enough a) to differentiate social movements from related concepts such as interest groups, political parties, protest events and coalitions; b) to identify a specific area of investigation and theorising for social movement research.
